I'll dominate 'credible boxer' Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be shown live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Ex twice world title holder Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I will injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, stated.
"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I will really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - normally known for his showmanship - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.
Jake Paul rather targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.
"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.
Jake Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's largest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in rounds four or five and stated he would derail the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.
Physical Difference
As both boxers met for the customary face-off, with their height and weight contrast on show, it emphasized just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is actually proceeding.
